Finding answers become easier and easier as society progresses further into the “Information Age”. Our experience with technology’s maximized efficiency and instant results fosters within us an expectation of the same processes in our human interactions. In most cases, 800 numbers hardly guarantee such an interaction– usually leading to circular communication between members of this and that office and all sorts of red tape to trip over. Typically one pulls these numbers out to address an issue under both time and convenience restraints. When seeking answers about your insurance policy and all that falls under its umbrella, and personal property and coverage is on the line, you don’t want to be running into roadblocks. What American doesn’t love the Fourth of July? It’s a perfect excuse to have a party, fire up the barbecue, catch up with friends and light some fireworks.
Now, we know that there aren’t many areas in Orange County that are allowed to have fireworks, but there are a few: Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, Stanton, Villa Park and Westminster. These cities allow state-approved fireworks only, but that doesn’t mean that “state-approved” means “safe”. Continue Reading →
Of all the national holidays perhaps Memorial Day is most aptly named. Not for the reasons of recognizing all those brave souls that gave life and limb for the freedom we so enjoy, but for the fact that the holiday can fatefully be your personal memorial. It seems that this holiday draws more people to traveling on our roads and freeways. As it is often said, “accidents happen”, and that adage is particularly true for this holiday. Continue Reading →
As the spring winds bring in warmer weather, most RV owners’ thoughts turn to hitting the road! That is especially true for the younger families who are looking forward to a summer vacation during the kids’ break from school. For mom, dad and the kids, exploring the nooks and crannies of the Western states is a great outlet for blowing off steam and exploring sights that have only been seen in magazines…or perhaps on an iPad. A recent study conducted statewide attempted to determine the extent to which drivers were under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. This was a voluntary test conducted to get real numbers about drivers driving under influence of a foreign substance such as alcohol or illegal drugs, including marijuana, prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications.
This was a weekend test at locations in nine California cities. The results? Fourteen percent of the 1,300 drivers tested positive for driving under the influence of illegal and/or prescription drugs. Most prevalent was marijuana with 7.4 percent. Another 7 percent were driving with alcohol in their system. Continue Reading →
Does this photograph illustrate that driving an eco-friendly electric vehicle is safe? Hardly, and in this case it’s not the point! It does show what might happen if you are driving and distracted. In this local collision on Laguna Canyon Road recently, two lives were lost and the one life that was spared will never be the same. While final investigation results have not been released regarding the cause of the crash, it really doesn’t matter to anyone except for the driver of this car. Continue Reading →
If you are a responsible individual, have held important positions, or shown leadership qualities in your private or professional life, you may be asked to serve as a Trustee of an estate. It is especially likely if you have an accounting our legal background. Maybe you just happen to be the responsible sibling in a family. The estate could be a simple trust for an elderly family member, or a complex estate with complex financial holdings and considerable value. It may not even be within your family. Continue Reading →
There’s a common saying: Home is where the heart is. And that’s very true—no matter what size your house is, if your family and loved ones are there, it’s home. And although it is hard to put a number on how much that home is worth to you, you can never put a dollar amount on your family’s safety and security.
At BMR Insurance, we recognize the desire for security; after all, we are experts in peace of mind. And that’s why we want to bring to our customers’ attention a special that ADT Security Systems is offering. Continue Reading →
There are many economic aspects when looking at the potential savings of an “eco-friendly” hybrid or electric automobile. Most focus upon the fuel savings that can be achieved by driving a car that does not (to some degree or the other) depend entirely upon hydrocarbon fuels. There is little argument when the prices of fuel exceed $4.00/gallon, that using less fuel leaves considerably more money in the pockets of the hybrids. It’s there, and it’s real. Continue Reading →
